The Northern Quarter is a unique and treasured area of Manchester. Weaving together a rich industrial heritage, a strong and growing community and a vibrant cultural life, it is one of Manchester’s great successes.

Crucial to this is a sense of identity. This is a place unlike others, and needs to be protected against the thoughtless, identikit buildings that have popped up across the city. If it is not, we will lose it forever.

Following the reckless granting of planning permission to Salboys, the developer arm of billionaire bookie Fred Done, our area is under threat. The proposed 18 storey tower is bad enough by itself, but will set a dangerous precedent for future developments.

The only route local people have left is to call on Manchester City Council not to sell its land interest in the site. This is entirely in the power of the local authority, and would force the developer to revisit their plans.

Please sign our petition to stop the land sale, and preserve this wonderful part of our city.

Don’t Sell Out Shudehill!

Don't Sell Out Shudehill!

We the undersigned call on Manchester City Council not to sell its land interest or give a long-term lease to Salboys at the Shudehill site.
