Phase 1 Complete - Phase 2 Begins

Piccadilly Gardens Survey at the bottom of the page!

Last month, Manchester Council finalised Phase 1 of the Piccadilly Gardens improvements.

The initial improvement phase includes the removal of street furniture around Piccadilly Gardens that is perpetuating anti-social behaviour, increasing the light provision, the demolition of the free-standing wall and planning a public conversation on the future of Piccadilly Gardens.

Local Labour Councillor Jon-Connor Lyons said: “We were elected in 2018 on the promise to improve and increase our public spaces in the city centre. This is a crucial step in fulfilling that promise.

“Piccadilly Gardens has been in dire need of transformation and that has been one of our priorities since getting elected. Lobbying for the funding for the first phase was a success and I am confident that we can ringfence a sizeable amount for the second phase, which will also help to kickstart our Manchester recovery from the looming economic recession.

“As one of the busiest and most visited spaces in our city – it’s important that we get this right. I am asking all residents to respond to this survey and the consultation, setting out our vision for the future of Piccadilly Gardens.”
