Piccadilly Labour Cllrs have organised a Northern Quarter Development meeting with Planning Executive member Cllr Stogia after 600 Mancunians sign petition regarding a reckless planning decision in the Northern Quarter.

The meeting is set to take place on Thursday 1st August, 6pm at the Craft Centre. You can get a ticket here.

Affordable and Social housing campaigners GM Housing Action group said “Important event- very good to see Piccadilly Labour take action on this, following the leadership of community and campaign organisations that have pushed on this for years”. They added “Credit to the Cllrs picking up this fight against developers and their greed”.

Cllr Lyons said “Our residents have serious concerns over planning consultations, the lack of affordable housing and social housing in city centre developments and the impacts, direct or indirect, on our industrial heritage that we so value in this city.”

Piccadilly Labour have spent the last month collecting signatures and speaking to residents about the Northern Quarter 18 Storey glass tower, which they all opposed, which has re-sparked the debate in the Northern Quarter about over-development that is not in-keeping with the area and offers no affordable or social housing.
